If you were planning on picking up a third-party headset for the Xbox One later this year then you’ll no doubt be disappointed to learn that Microsoft’s Xbox One headset adapter will now only be ready in 2014. This official headset adapter is required for all new third-party Xbox One and existing Xbox 360 headsets due to the new console’s proprietary headset jack.
Third-party manufacturer Turtle Beach revealed the news in a press release which announced that its two upcoming Xbox One headsets, the XO Four and XO Seven, have been pushed back into Q1 2014 due to Microsoft’s adapter not being ready.
“The Xbox One Headset Adapter, being built by Microsoft and provided to Turtle Beach for inclusion with new gaming headsets, will not be available until early 2014,” noted Turtle Beach.
In the meantime Xbox One owners can make use of the official Xbox One headset which will be bundled with every new console.
