If you’re yearning for more Resident Evil then a recent entry (since been removed) on the LinkedIn profile of costume designer Karen Brakenridge for Resident Evil 7 suggests that Capcom is well into development on a sequel.
According to the woman’s profile (seen below), she designed costumes for the cast of Resident Evil 7 at the motion capture studio House of Moves between November 2012 and January 2013. If true, this indicates that Capcom began working on the game before or around the same time that Resident Evil 6 launched in early October 2012.
It will be interesting to see if Capcom returns to the series’ survival horror roots in Resident Evil 7 or continues to deliver the all-out action which defined Resident Evil 6. Resident Evil 5 represented the high-water mark for the franchise from a sales perspective while RE6 was the second-lowest selling game in the main series behind Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
