Thanks to the commencement of the New York Comic Con this past weekend, Activision took the opportunity to announce a brand new Spider-Man game based on the events of 2014′s Hollywood film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The videogame of the same name will, however, build on the story of the previous Amazing Spider-Man game while providing an “alternative take on the events of the upcoming movie,” with new opportunities to take your third-person web-slinging antics to new and enhanced levels while roaming through “a greatly expanded” New York City.
New foes and old friends are also promised for inclusion in the game as Spider-Man meets an all-new threat to New York City. According to Activision, Amazing Spider-Man 2 will give Peter Parker a much greater role in the game as he investigates “the complicated motivations and unique personalities behind the menagerie of Marvel menaces threatening Manhattan.” Photography mini games, anyone?
Developer Beenox is mixing things up with the new ‘Hero or Menace’ system, which the team says will encourage gamers to be a better superhero by rewarding your crime-fighting exploits, while adding consequences for allow crime to run wild.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is out in 2014 alongside the film, across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS and PC.
