Announced earlier this year as a brand new entry to Nintendo’s extensive family of handhelds, the Nintendo 2DS will be making its way to select South African retailers starting October 14th, just in time for the Holidays and the launch of Pokemon X and Y.
Available for a recommended retail price of R1 499 in two colour combinations, namely Black and Blue, as well as White and Red, the biggest change from previous Nintendo DS and 3DS handhelds is the new non-clamshell design, giving it a very distinctive ‘wedge’ look.
Also, as the name implies, the 2DS doesn’t feature the lenticular 3D capabilities of the 3DS but it still includes two screens and all of the extra functionality of that system. You’ll also still be able to play all of your 3DS and DS games with the 2DS, and enjoy the StreetPass, Spotpass and wireless connectivity features you expect from Nintendo’s latest handhelds.
Who amongst you is eyeing the Nintendo 2DS? By comparison, the 3DS is retailing for rough R2000 – would you drop the 3D for R500 off?
