One of the highlights among the 3DS’ packed European line-up this holiday season is Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy. The game is the sixth entry in the Professor Layton series and represents the final part of the prequel trilogy which was initiated by Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call. According to Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy will be the last game in the series to feature the titular professor as the protagonist.
Nintendo is publishing the game in Europe and confirmed earlier today that it will be released on November 8th in PAL territories as both a retail and digital download title. Fans who pre-order Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy from participating GAME stores can score themselves an exclusive, genuine leather card wallet embossed with the Professor Layton logo.
Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy will feature more than 150 puzzles unlocked over the course of the game, as well as an additional 365 downloadable puzzles which will be made available on a daily basis for a year following the game’s launch.
Here’s the official synopsis for this upcoming puzzle-adventure game:
“The trio receive a letter from a famed archaeologist, describing his discovery of a ‘living mummy’, this turns out to be a girl encased in ice, a living remnant of the ancient Azran civilisation – the very one that Professor Layton has been seeking to understand since his youth. Our heroes are able to free the girl from the ice, but before they can learn anything, the sinister Targent organisation turn up and kidnap her. It’s up to Professor Layton to save the girl and unravel the secrets of the Azran legacy before Targent.”
The game is due out in North America sometime during 2014. Head over here for El33tonline’s previous coverage of Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy.
