Sony has released a mandatory firmware update for the PS3 which upgrades the console’s system software to version 4.50. The update introduces a couple of handy new features such as being able to set the visibility of earned Trophies, and wirelessly transfer data between the PS Vita and PS3. However no one seems to be able to use this latter feature yet so it’s possible that it will only work after the PS Vita has received a firmware update of its own.
Here are the patch notes for the new PS3 system update in full:
• Auto download of system software updates has been expanded to support all PSN users
• Auto download support of purchases made on the PlayStation Web Store will be made available to all PSN users
• New options for Trophy privacy settings allow users to set which trophies are visible
• Data can now be transferred from PS3 to PS Vita using WiFi and ethernet connection
Have you managed to wirelessly transfer data between your PS3 and PS Vita since the update? Let us know in the comments.
