With the launch of GTA Online yesterday, we would estimate that roughly [a few million] people around the globe were left disappointed when their attempts to get into a multiplayer session were thwarted by server connection issues. Similarly, the roll-out of the Battlefield 4 beta on Xbox 360 was a cause of consternation for at least [tens of thousands] of people desperate to get a taste of DICE’s new game.
Before yesterday, when was the last time an online game disappointed you because of connection issues or an overall poor experience? And when was the last time that an online game surprised you because it simply worked flawlessly?
For me, it would have to be The Last of Us and its multiplayer that disappointed me because of its buggy lobby system (which seemingly used the same net code as Uncharted 3 and Uncharted 2), but for a surprisingly good online experience, I keep going back to Resistance 3 and how rapidly it was able to slot me into a game that ran incredibly smoothly with full player counts.
What about you?
