Over the weekend, some potentially exciting but initially worrying news regarding the currently-on-the-go Hearthstone closed beta arrived in the form of an announcement of an account and progress wipe.
The wipe will, according to Blizzard, reset any progress that you’ve managed to gain while playing in the Hearthstone open beta, which includes your gold, experience and class levels, as well as arcane dust quantities, unlocked cards and your medal ranking. “When you load up the game [after the wipe],” writes Blizzard, “it will be as if you were starting in Hearthstone as a new player.
If you’re worried about any real-world cash that you’ve spent while playing in the Hearthstone beta, fear not because Blizzard will ensure you won’t lose your money (as revealed in an FAQ).
Since news of ‘The Wipe’ was announced, we’ve received word of the first major patch for the Heathstone open beta which will coincide with the wipe, with features like class-specific daily quests, updated Golden Cards (with new animations), improved crafting abilities, improved chat (and the cool-sounding ‘Toast’ notification for your friends), as well as balance changes and tweaks to things like the amount of gold you earn per match, and the Play Mode and Arena features.
If you’re already a hardcore Hearthstone player, or a beginner interested in finding out about the future of the game, read the full details of the patch over here, and be sure to read our hands-on preview, too.
