PlayStation4BannerImageFollowing today’s reports and updates from retailer BT Games, distributor of the PlayStation brand in South Africa, Ster Kinekor Entertainment, has confirmed a launch delay for the PlayStation 4 in the country.

Originally scheduled to release on December 6th in South Africa, the PlayStation 4 will now become available on December 13th, with midnight launches planned for December 12th. Chief executive officer at Ster Kinekor Entertainment, Mario dos Santos, wrote in a statement:

“We have received the final global shipping timelines from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc and can confirm that our release dates are aligned with the international retail calendar.”

Have you already pre-ordered your PlayStation 4 with hopes pinned on an early December release, South Africa gamers, or will the extra week give you some much needed time to clear your schedule for the impending launch of the next generation of consoles in the country?

Or are you instead saving your pennies for the Xbox One in 2014, or perhaps eyeing a beefy graphics card for your PC?
