One of the most anticipated adventure games of the year is Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse – the long-awaited fifth entry in the series which was partially funded by a Kickstarter campaign launched in August last year.
The game marks a returns to the hand-drawn, 2D sensibilities of older Broken Sword titles although characters are rendered in 3D while still maintaining the basic visual style of the game’s backgrounds.
Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse features a familiar-sounding storyline which is described as follows:
“Paris in the spring. Shots ring out from a gallery…
“A robbery – a murder – and the beginning of another epic, original Broken Sword adventure.
“An adventure that will hurl intrepid lawyer George Stobbart and sassy journalist Nico Collard onto the trail of a murderous conspiracy forged in the cauldron of war-torn Europe. A conspiracy whose roots lie in mysteries older than the written word.
“Armed only with logic, integrity and a wry sense of humour – can George and Nico outwit evil forces both ancient and modern and save mankind from disaster? From a Curse forged by the Devil himself?”
Here’s a pre-alpha teaser trailer for Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse which somehow managed to slip through the cracks last month:
The game will be available later this year for iOS, Android, PS Vita, Mac, Linux and Windows PC.
