Today marks the release of the digital version of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate in European territories as well as its free-to-play counterpart – Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate: Core Fighters for PS3. The latter edition is now available on the PlayStation Web Store and weighs in at 3.7 GB. It is essentially a stripped down version of the full game which features four playable characters (Kasumi, Ayane, Ryu Hayabusa, and Hayate) as well as two additional fighters who are rotated on a regular basis.
The free-to-play version is also missing story mode which can be purchased for R140/£11.99/€14.99. Meanwhile, individual characters can be purchased for R35/£3.19/€3.99 each.
Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate features a more detailed training mode, new stages based on older DoA titles and the Ninja Gaiden franchise, as well as new characters such as Momiji and Rachel from Ninja Gaiden and Jacky from Virtua Fighter.
