Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn got off to a disastrous start after Square Enix was forced to suspend digital sales of the game after underestimating how many people would flood its servers at launch.
Digital sales were suspended on August 28th – just one day after the game’s release date – and the publisher has now announced that players can once again purchase and download the game through digital channels on PC and PS3 following “extensive” server maintenance. According to Square Enix the game is now functioning “as originally intended” after the number of servers for players worldwide was increased along with the capacity of players per World and the number of concurrent players.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is now available for PC and PS3, and will be released on PS4 sometime next year. Head over here for El33tonline’s previous coverage of this promising MMO which includes our hands-on preview of its closed beta.
