According to reports and complaints from developers, hundreds of downloadable games and other content has disappeared from Xbox LIVE Marketplace following what Microsoft is calling a “technical glitch.”
The games, primarily in the Xbox LIVE Indie Games portion of Marketplace, went missing late yesterday and Microsoft continues to work on a fix to address the issue. Lighthouse Games Studio raised a flag on the official XBLIG forum, to which many more developers replied confirming the problem. While the number of games on XBLIG dropped from 2 100 to 949, full Xbox LIVE Arcade games (including Castle Crashers and Battleblock Theater from Behemoth) have also disappeared.
In a statement, a Microsoft representative wrote:
“We’re aware there is an issue affecting the Xbox Games Store that has temporarily removed some content including Xbox Live Arcade and Xbox Live Indie Games titles. This is a technical glitch and we’re working to fix the issue as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
