Earlier this week Xbox spokesman Major Nelson spoke out on NeoGaf expressing his disapproval for the term ‘Xbone’ being used to refer to the Xbox One, writing:
“I don’t like it…it disrespects the teams that have put in thousands of hours (already) into the development of the product. Sure, it’s cheeky but I don’t care for it myself.”
Just two days later Microsoft secured the domain ‘Xbone.com’ according to the domain’s WHOIS records, although it was created all the way back in 2000 by an unknown individual or company.
Typing ‘Xbone.com’ into your browser’s URL window currently redirects you to Microsoft’s Bing search engine results for the term.
Do you think Xbone is a disrespectful term for the Xbox One or just a logical contraction of the console’s name? Let us know in the comments.
