Humble Bundle Inc. is at it again and in my opinion, they’re offering one of the best indie bundles yet – twice!
First up is Humble Indie Bundle 9, which is a true ‘pay what you want’ bundle (meaning you could pay as low as $0.01) because there aren’t any Steam keys required. Paying the $1 minimum will unlock Steam keys for all the games, though, and if you’re a Mac OS X or Linux fanboy, you can still enjoy these titles because they support all three major PC platforms.
Grab yourself Trine 2: Complete Story, Mark of the Ninja, Eets Munchies Beta and Brutal Legend for anything as low as $0.01. If your heart (and possibly pride, if you have no heart) won’t allow you to be that cheap, any proceeds Humble Bundle Inc. receives can go towards their Humble Tip, the developers, or charity.
The beneficiaries this time around are the Electronic Frontier Foundation (defending your rights in the digital world by fighting to protect privacy and free expression online), and/or Watsi (funding life-changing medical care for people in need around the world), and/or Child’s Play (channelling goodwill of the worldwide gaming community into videogames and game systems for sick children in hospitals).
But wait, there’s more! Much more! If you pay above the average (would someone please tell me how they work out the average?), which is $4.59, then you unlock FEZ and FTL: Faster Than Light. That’s incredibly epic! FTL is worth the entire price alone, since that game usually retails for $10 and is on its own still worth the full price. You also get soundtracks – another massive bargain – but most importantly, the value of this bundle (especially with the above-the-average price) is tremendous!
As an added incentive if you buy now, the more games coming to the bundle will automatically be unlocked into your cabinet – what the hang are you waiting for, Christmas? Get cracking!
The second goodness on offer is Humble Weekly Bundle Retro Shooters. This bundle is another ‘pay what you want’ with $1 minimum to get the Steam keys, with Serious Sam HD The First Encounter, Serious Sam HD The Second Encounter, Shadow Warrior Classic Redux, and Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition included. If you beat the average (I work in the Mathematics department and I still don’t know how they work this average out), which is $6.00, you also unlock Hard Reset Extended Edition (and the soundtrack) and System Shock 2 (and the soundtrack).
Charities to support here are the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child’s Play Charity, the developers, and the Humble Bundle Inc. group. If you’re not a Windows fanboy, Shadow Warrior and Duke Nukem 3D are available for Linux and Mac OS X, with System Shock 2 also available on Mac.
I’ve been looking forward to buying System Shock 2 from GOG but this special is not only cheaper but we get a bundle of bonus content too. This bundle also features a span of co-op and multiplayer shooters so you and your friends should be able to benefit from literally days of gaming content.
For a little over $10 (that’s R100) you could secure a massive pile of great games while also supporting charity and the developers – how can you say no to that? The weekend is here, so make it a great one!
