The PlayStation 4 will launch in many Western territories in 2013, including North America on November 15th, Europe on November 29th and South Africa on December 6th, but Japanese gamers will only see Sony’s next home console in early 2014.
During Sony’s pre-Tokyo Game Show 2013 media briefing, the company announced that the PlayStation 4 would launch in Japan on February 22nd, 2014, at a price of 41 979 yen (+/- $420), with a bundle including the PlayStation Camera priced at 46 179 yen (+/- $460).
In addition, a special bundle called the ‘PlayStation 4 First Limited Pack’ has been announced, which comes with a copy of Knack.
The reason for the delayed launch of the PlayStation 4 in Japan was put down to a lack of “content” (which could be read as games that are relevant to the Japanese market), which Sony hopes to rectify with a line-up of games from Japanese publishers and developers in time for launch.
