EA rounded off their gamescom press conference with an explosive Battlefield 4 showcase.
In addition to announcing that the multiplayer beta would be available in early October, developer DICE unveiled Battlefield 4 Premium and introduced a new map and mode.
Xbox 360, PS3 and PC gamers will be able to enjoy the open multiplayer beta which will feature the Siege of Shanghai map in Conquest mode. Battlefield 3 Premium owners, players who pre-ordered Battlefield 4 Digital Deluxe and those who own the Digital Deluxe and Limited Edition of Medal of Honor Warfighter will have access to the exclusive beta in early October for three days.
DICE General Manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson shared details on Levolution, dynamic environments that react to players’ movement, whether that be taking down a skyscraper or shooting a fire extinguisher to disorientate enemies, ensuring no two games are ever the same.
“Levolution is much more than just dynamic maps and set pieces. It is a bigger, interconnected and evolving Battlefield combined with massive scale, and a full arsenal of vehicles and of course, our signature destruction.”
Explosive multiplayer action
We also got a glimpse of the new obliteration mode, where players are tasked with destroying enemy targets before they destroy yours. Only one bomb spawns at a time, however, and it’s in a random location too so both teams must then fight to secure it and transport it to the enemy target before detonating it.
Watch the explosive multiplayer trailer on the ‘Paracel Storm’ map to see how players will have to face stormy oceans and survive intense naval battles on amphibious vehicles as Frostbite 3 creates dynamic waves to challenge your tactical skills:
