At the Xbox gamescom press conference today Team Dakota revealed new information on the voice and motion capture capability that will be present in Project Spark.
Players will be able to capture facial animations as well as body motion, and then combine that with voice and sound to craft custom animations or cut-scenes. These features are made possible through Kinect and are designed to bring more of the player into the game.
The features offer players many options through which to express themselves and fully realize their character in the game. To start with players can now record their own sounds or dialogue through the Kinect microphone and then tweak the audio through pre-built modulations. Building on that you can record your own face and then have it applied to an in-game character. In addition you can record full body motions or gestures to further customize your character.
The combined features of facial mapping, body tracking and vocal imprinting offers up an exciting customization potential for players.
The official beta launch date for beta participants is the end of October 2013 for Windows 8 devices and January 2013 for Xbox One. You can register for the beta program at www.joinprojectspark.com.
