Microsoft has just wrapped up its Xbox gamescom media briefing in Cologne, Germany. One of the announcements to come out of the event was that of Fable Legends, a new title from Lionhead Studios that will be coming exclusively to the Xbox One.
Fable Legends, the next installment in the popular Fable franchise, will see players returning to Albion. This time you’ll be able to journey with up to three other players as you “embark on quests, slay monsters and discover new weapons, armor and treasure to upgrade your character with.”
The game is said to empower you to play the way you want, and you’ll be able to “hone your skills in swordplay, or specialize in the arcane arts as a wizard or witch.” Players will be able to enjoy Legends co-operatively with friends on Xbox LIVE or solo with AI companions, you’ll even be able to create a party with both human and computer allies. Switching between single and multiplayer sessions is also said to be seamless, so you can join anytime.
For the first time in the franchise players will also be able to become a villain. “Playing a Hero utilizes the classic Fable style of gameplay, but as a Villain, you’ll combine strategy and tactics to control an army of minions against the Heroes. Command your troops in real-time and carefully manage your minions’ unique abilities to ensure the forces of evil prevail.”
Players will also be able to use Xbox SmartGlass (for tablet or smartphone) to enjoy other gameplay enhancing features. “Heroes can use it to track game progress, learn more about quests, and more. As a Villain, however, you can use Xbox SmartGlass as a second screen for your Xbox One, allowing you to wage war against Hero players as you sit beside them in couch co-op.”
