Namco Bandai recently used San Diego Comic-Con as a platform to announce a high-definition remaster of its weapon-based fighting game Soul Calibur II which first appeared in the arcades in 2002.
‘Soul Calibur II HD Online’ will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 this fall and will feature brand new online modes as well as returning modes from the console port including Arcade, Survival, VS Battle, Time Attack, Team Battle, Practice and Weapon Master.
The upcoming remaster will be based on the PS2 version which included Tekken’s Heihachi as a platform-specific bonus character.
“For more than a decade the Soul Calibur franchise has been one of the preeminent head-to-head fighting franchises for consoles,” said Chris Gilbert, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Namco Bandai Games America. “Soul Calibur II HD Online lets fans relive an important chapter of the series’ history with beautifully enhanced graphics and new online gameplay.”
