From Software’s PS3 exclusive Demon’s Souls is, by many gamers’ estimates, one of the finest action RPGs ever created. The game was developed in collaboration with SCE Japan Studio and Sony owns the IP which explains why its ‘spiritual successor’ Dark Souls was not called Demon’s Souls 2.
With Demon’s Souls’ cult classic status it would be irrational for Sony not to release a proper sequel at some point, and now a new listing for Demon’s Souls 2 on Swedish retail site CDON.com suggests that we won’t have to wait too much longer before the game is announced. The listing ties the game to PS4 and its placeholder release date is December 31st 2013. While Sony has said that more first-party PS4 games will be announced at gamescom next month, it seems unlikely that Demon’s Souls 2 will be out before next year if it is indeed in development.
Do you think one of Sony’s first-party studios is currently hard at work on Demon’s Souls 2 or is this listing just wishful thinking? Let us know in the comments.
