A demo for Sony and Polyphony Digital’s upcoming racer Gran Turismo 6 will be available next week.
The demo promises to be “a tantalising glimpse at what we will see when the game takes to the starting grid later this year.” So be sure to mark Tuesday July 2nd on your calendar for when the free demo arrives, no ownership of any Gran Turismo product is required.
You’ll be racing the new Silverstone course in the demo, which is structured as a GT Academy-style driving concept. This means racers will “progressively learn the skills required to push very expensive track monsters at full speed round impossible apexes.”
As you progress you will unlock special bonus content, and if you’re in a GT Academy eligible country you’ll also get the chance to post times to the leaderboard and win a ticket to experience a real race with Nissan. More details about that can be found at the game’s official website.
The demo will be live until August 31st, but the GT Academy competition will close on July 28th.
Gran Turismo 6 will be available in both a Standard Edition as well as a special Anniversary Edition when it launches exclusively for PS3 this holiday.
The Anniversary Edition will include extra content to celebrate 15 years of Gran Turismo, such as a special Polyphony designed 15th anniversary steelbook, 1M in-game credits, 20 cars with special 15th Anniversary custom livery and performance enhancement, custom paint chips, custom race suit, custom race helmet and custom avatars, as well as Apex II, a brand new updated version of the Apex game guide. You can also look forward to a PS3/GT6 bundle which will include the Anniversary Edition content as well.
