Microsoft may have confirmed that the Xbox One won’t be available in Africa and Asia when it launches later this year, but the launch window for the PlayStation 4 has still been something of a mystery for certain parts of the world as we hold out hope that a next generation console of some description will arrive in our neck of the woods this year.
South African retailer BT Games has today seemingly confirmed that the PlayStation 4 will indeed become available in South Africa in 2013, tweeting:
News: The Sony Playstation 4 to be released in 2013 in South Africa, no exact pricing or release date at present.
— BT Games (@BTGamesStores) June 19, 2013
This news comes after the release of an official statement by PlayStation distributor in South Africa, Ster Kinekor, which at the time said that “we have no official release date or recommended retail price for South Africa.”
What do you make of the news? Does this information make you more inclined to plan a purchase of Sony’s upcoming home console, or are you holding out until the launch of Xbox One next year?
