Fuse demo confirmed for this week – what will we see in the taster?Written by: / / 7 Comments
We’ve been waiting for quite some time to get to grips with Insomniac’s next shooter following on from Resistance and Ratchet & Clank, and while Fuse has undergone a name and direction change and at least one delay (that we know about), this is the week that we’ll all be able to get a taste of the four-player co-operative team-based third-person shooter.
Any more hyphens and genre classifications to add? Hopefully not.
EA and Insomniac will be releasing a multiplayer demo for Fuse this week starting May 7th, across Xbox LIVE on Xbox 360 and PlayStation Network on PlayStation 3, to showcase the game’s co-operative play both online and in split-screen.
The Fuse demo will allow us to play as one of the four main characters – Dalton Brooks, Izzy Sinclair, Jacob Kimble and Naya Deveraux – and work through a mission from the game, described thus:
“[A] deadly alien energy source which has been stolen by the rogue paramilitary organization, Raven. Each of the characters delivers a unique gameplay experience, as they have their own individual and unique “Xenotech” weapon and specialized skills. Players will use these abilities as they track down the Fuse source in a snowy secret weapon depot.”
CEO and founder of Insomniac Games, Ted Price, said of Fuse:
“When it comes to Fuse, the biggest thing we’ve noticed when sharing it with others for the first time is that playing is believing. Fuse takes four player co-op in a new direction with features you won’t find in other third person shooters: from LEAP where you can jump between each of the four unique agents at will to the experimental Xenotech weapons to the deep RPG-like character progression system.
“And by the way, all of these features rock for solo players as well. Join us in this brand new universe for a quintessential Insomniac Games experience.”
If you’ve been wary of Fuse then the demo is your chance to either confirm or allay your fears – will you be playing this week?
Fuse is out on May 28th in North America and May 31st everywhere else, on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Look over El33tonline’s previous coverage of the action shooter for screenshots, trailers and more information.
