The next time you attempt to sign into the PlayStation Network on PS3 you’ll be prompted to download a new firmware update. The latest system update upgrades the firmware to version 4.41 and is mandatory, meaning that you won’t be able to sign into PSN or use the PlayStation Store without first installing it.
According to Sony, PS3 firmware 4.41 is a “minor update that will improve system stability.”
Next month the platform holder is expected to activate an existing feature in the current firmware which will allow users to remotely download content to their PS3 from the PlayStation Web Store. The Web Store can be accessed from a variety of internet browsers, including the Chrome browser available for iOS devices.
