Bethesda’s Skyrim team “moving to our next adventure,” next major project needs “full attention”Written by: / / No Comments
In a just-published blog post on the official BethBlog, the Bethesda Softworks team behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is ‘moving to its next adventure’ after a year and a half of downloadable content support and patches for the vast action RPG.
“Skyrim has been a labor of love for us since we started designing it in 2006,” the post reads. “We never imagined it would become the phenomenon it has. And that is because of you, the fans. It was all of you who made it a success. We can’t thank you enough for embracing the game, spreading the word, and making it your own.”
After such a long time working on the content and support of a single game, the entire team is now moving on to work on the studio’s “next major project,” and after a period of pre-production (also helped along by members of the Skyrim team), this next game “is at the point where it requires the studio’s full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet.”
Bethesda promises that Skyrim will still enjoy minor updates as necessary, and because the team has invested so much of themselves into the game, they “will never truly say goodbye to it.”
The blog post concludes that, thanks to everybody’s stories of their time in Skyrim, “videogames matter” and that they’re “as important to you as they are to us. It’s not just about entertainment, it’s about your time. And you chose to spend it with our game.
“We look forward to sharing our next adventure with you.”
What do you think the next adventure from Bethesda could be? Fallout 4? Another Elder Scrolls game? A new intellectual property?
And were you expecting any further DLC support for Skyrim, or are you happy with what you got?
