Game Developers Choice Awards 2013 recognises Journey with six honours

Game Developers Choice Awards During a Tim Schafer-hosted evening, the 13th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards event was held at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco last night to honour 2012’s very best achievements in the world of game development, across categories including Best Downloadable Game, Best Visual Arts, Innovation and more.

Unsurprisingly, Journey from thatgamecompany swept up most of the awards, including the ultra prestigious Game of the Year.

Other games and industry personalities were also recognised at the important peer-led ceremony, though, so here is the full list of winners in each category:

  • Best Downloadable Game: Journey (Thatgamecompany/Sony Computer Entertainment)

  • Best Narrative: The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)

  • Best Visual Arts: Journey (Thatgamecompany/Sony Computer Entertainment)

  • Best Technology: Far Cry 3 (Ubisoft Montreal/Ubisoft)

  • Best Game Design: Journey (Thatgamecompany/Sony Computer Entertainment)

  • Best Handheld/Mobile Game: The Room (Fireproof Games)

  • Best Audio: Journey (Thatgamecompany/Sony Computer Entertainment)

  • Best Debut: Subset Games (FTL: Faster Than Light)

  • Innovation: Journey (Thatgamecompany/Sony Computer Entertainment)

  • Audience Award: Dishonored (Arkane Studios/Bethesda Softworks)

  • Game of the Year: Journey (Thatgamecompany/Sony Computer Entertainment)

  • Lifetime Achievement Winner: Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk

  • Pioneer Award Winner: Steve Russell

  • Ambassador Award Winner: Chris Melissinos
