One of the major complaints aimed at Nintendo following the release of the Wii U last year was the console’s sluggish operating system (OS) that saw users staring at a white loading screen for a frustratingly lengthy period after performing actions such as returning to the main menu from a game. These load times were slightly reduced by a system update released shortly after the console launched but the OS still feels very sluggish when compared to a current-gen system such as the Xbox 360.
Nintendo plans to further improve the speed of the Wii U’s OS by releasing a system update next month. The platform holder recently released a video comparing the time that it takes to return to the main menu from a game before and after the upcoming update.
Take a look below:
Following the April system update it will take eight seconds to display the Wii U main menu after exiting a game. Is this still too long in your opinion? Let us know in the comments.
