We may know Zen Studios as the developer behind the incredible Zen Pinball/PinballFX series of games, but the company has also been hard at work on another downloadable title that’s decidedly unlike a pinball game.
Billed as a game that features “a new breed of 2D archery projectile warfare and 2D physics-based structure destruction” set in a “colorful medieval world,” CastleStorm tasks players with carrying out a siege of an enemy castle or fort while managing a variety of resources.
Zen Studios recently took the wraps off of the multiplayer modes available in CastleStorm, with looks at a versus mode and two co-operative game types. Writing on the Zen blog, the studio said:
“We firmly believe that games are always more fun when you can play with your friends, so we have packed CastleStorm full of multiplayer and co-op modes for you to enjoy with the awesome Xbox LIVE Arcade community.
“Multiplayer progression is totally separate from the single player campaign, allowing players the opportunity to level up and gain experience separate from the single player campaign.”
1 vs. 1 split-screen mode:
Simply try and beat your opponent by bashing in their castle. Choose your side (the noble Knights or the ragtag Vikings) and then choose your arsenal of weapons wisely. Face off, castle to castle and the first to completely demolish his or her opponent’s castle wins!
Two players team up to fight off waves of enemies together! Assign one player to control the ballista and the other to control ground forces. Good timing and great aim are essential in Survival Co-op as friendly fire could be harmful to your own troops on the ground.
Last Stand Co-op mode:
Would you rather ditch the castle and do some hand-to-hand combat out in the battlefield? Check out the Last Stand Co-op mode where both players control a hero and battle wave after wave of enemies together! The object is to stay alive as long as you can, but remember, enemies can come from either side so be ready.
You can see all of this in action in the newly released trailer for CastleStorm below – look out for CastleStorm on Xbox LIVE Arcade later this year:
