The fate of the Epic Mickey series may be in peril after the closure of Junction Point Studios in January, but Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two will reach a new audience when Sony publishes the game on PS Vita “later this year.”

Besides announcing that the game is being ported to PS Vita, Sony also provided first details about some of the exclusive features this version will boast. Chief among these is a two-player online co-op mode which was notably absent from last year’s game. Players will also be able to use front touch for greater painting and thinning accuracy, and tilt controls for the game’s racing sections.

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two for PS Vita has only been confirmed for a European release thus far but we should soon be hearing about the US version in the near future.

Here’s a brief synopsis for the game along with its UK box art:

“Join the legendary Mickey Mouse on a fun-filled quest to bring a splash of colour back to Wasteland ‒ a weird and wonderful world of forgotten Disney toons ‒ in this long-awaited sequel. Exploring alone, or alongside the loveable Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in a co-op adventure, Mickey must use his enchanted paintbrush to find new paths, solve puzzles and battle evil mechanical monsters.”
