Nintendo released a short video presentation earlier this week announcing that a brand new 3DS app will be available as a free download this summer (i.e. third quarter). The app is a successor to Flipnote Studio for DSi which allows users to create short animations and upload them to a community hub.
Flipnote Studio 3D will include a number of new and enhanced features such as six usable colours and three levels of depth for each animation. You’ll also be able to save and export your creations in AVI or GIF format so you can easily share them online.
The app will feature two community services – Flipnote Gallery: Friends and Flipnote Gallery: World – which allow you to share your animations and rate or comment on other people’s creations. The first will be a free service while the second will require a small fee to continue using it once the 30-day trial has expired. However, there will be certain days of the year when Flipnote Studio 3D users can access this paid service free of charge.
