According to an IGN report, EA and DICE may just reveal the publisher/developer pair’s next highly anticipated military shooter, Battlefield 4, on March 26th.
How would IGN possibly know this? Thanks to a ‘Save the Date’ invite recently sent out to select members of the press, that’s how:
That date and location sounds very familiar for some reason… maybe because it’s where and when this year’s Game Developers Conference will be taking place.
GDC 2013 kicks off on March 25th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, and the fact that EA has a history of revealing products during GDC (with Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Battlefield 3: Premium content being revealed last year), a reveal of Battlefield 4 at the end of the month seems likely.
In addition, current scuttlebutt doing the rounds on Battlefield 4 point to a teaser trailer appearing for Battlefield 3 Premium members sometime next week, with special ‘I Was There’ dog tags becoming available for those players who watch the video.
Hate to Burst Your Bubble…
For now though, it’s still a rumour. We’ll keep an eye out for more smoke to lead us to this particular fire.
The last we heard about Battlefield 4 was that the game was going on a tour of various executives, including the CEO of US retailer GameStop, who said of the game:
“Got to see Battlefield 4 today and all I can say is WOW! Thanks [EA] for the sneak peek. Can’t wait for you all to see it.”
We also know that ‘the next Battlefield’ has been confirmed for next-generation consoles… but that’s about it.
