Today’s a special occasion for God of War fans in South Africa and other PAL territories as the mighty God of War: Ascension is now available for purchase. Many of you will be diving into the game’s multiplayer modes tonight and pledging your allegiance to one of four deities from Greek mythology.

To this end, Game Director Todd Papy recently revealed that Hades is the fourth god players can align with aside from Ares, Poseidon and Zeus. These gods correspond to the four magic-infused Blades of Chaos which Kratos acquires during the game’s singleplayer campaign.

Here’s a breakdown of the rewards you’ll reap by aligning yourself with Hades:

“Of all of the allegiances, Hades’ executioners have the highest versatility and variety of abilities. With the ability to curse, drain life, become invisible, and create large hazards (all in one load-out), the followers of Hades are able to control the flow of battle. Hades is neither the strongest offensively nor defensively, but careful tailoring through armors and weapons, based on the situation to subsidize this, will help push you towards whatever role you want to fill — you will be able to do it all.”

Todd Papy also stated on the PlayStation Blog that a “substantial DLC plan” is in place to deliver new armour and weapons sets along with new stages to battle in over the coming months. All this add-on content will be free for owners of the GoW: Ascension Collector’s Edition as it comes with a Season Pass which is exclusive to this version of the game.
