Gearbox Software sure does love its hot fixes for Borderlands 2, opting to improve the studio’s game with temporary online patches rather than release a series of title updates.
It works in the team’s favour and that of the gamer, but we can probably expect a mighty patch to apply all of these fixes permanently in the future.
You see, a hot fix differs from a regular patch, Gearbox explains, in that the former is only stored temporarily in memory on your gaming box of choice after you’ve connected online to the game’s servers, but is lost again once you exit Borderlands 2. A patch, or title update, however, is a permanent salve that you keep in storage (until you delete the patch, that is).
So what hot fixes are Gearbox serving up to Borderlands 2 players on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC right now? Here we go:
- The “Surprise!” challenge is now immediately visible and no longer hidden.
- Addressed some instances where Booster and Adaptive shield sound effects would not properly trigger.
- Fixed an issue where the ‘Evolution’ shield could incorrectly list a Recharge Delay of 0.00 seconds.
- PC: Item of the Day can now be selected via mouse in Seraph and Torgue vending machines.
As nice as a sequence of hot fixes may be, what Borderlands 2 players are really looking forward to is that sixth downloadable Vault Hunter, as well as the fourth, unannounced downloadable content add-on.
What could it be? What are you hoping for?
