The annual South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas may indeed be a place for some of the top minds in music, film and other creative mediums to get together to showcase their thoughts and works while discussing future innovations and discoveries… but it’s also a place where we can find out about upcoming Borderlands 2 downloadable content.
In a Polygon-attended SXSW panel hosted by Gearbox Software’s Jonathan Hemingway and Matthew Armstrong, the pair concluded their talk with a teaser video revealing what they’re alluding to as the sixth playable character in Borderlands 2, following on from the additional fifth vault hunter, the Mechromancer.
If comments made by the Gearbox Software employees are to be believed, this sixth character might be more melee focussed. The captured teaser trailer for the upcoming downloadable content does nothing to dissuade us from thinking we’ll be using our fists more than the millions of guns if we choose to play as this new character – bandits beware!
