Beyond: Two Souls recently took one step closer to being in the hands of eager PlayStation 3 owners with the announcement of an official release date for David Cage and Quantic Dream’s next stellar adventure game, alongside the reveal that acclaimed actor Willem Dafoe will have a starring role, alongside Ellen Page (Juno, Inception) who plays the main protagonist.
The story of Beyond: Two Souls revolves around fifteen very specific, tragic years in the life of Jodie Holmes (Page’s character), a woman who has an unexplained supernatural link to a entity known only as ‘Aiden.’
Jodie and Aiden’s co-dependence on one another will be a central theme of Beyond, and together the pair are capable of unfathomable feats of destruction… but perhaps something else, too?
Jodie’s life is also inextricably linked to the work and research of Nathan Dawkins (Dafoe), a government scientist who has taken it upon himself to look after Jodie while researching her powers, and find out what she’s truly capable of.
In the two video below, you can see Dafoe speaking about his role in Beyond: Two Souls and see his real-life performances, and then watch how those performances have been translated into the game:

We also recently learned that Beyond: Two Souls is due for release on October 8th this year. While this is a traditional North American release date, we wouldn’t put it past Sony Computer Entertainment to launch the game worldwide on the same date – we’ll keep an eye out for a European date in the meantime.
In the US, if you pre-order Beyond: Two Souls at GameStop (or EB in Canada), you’ll be eligible for an additional and exclusive 30 minute playable scene as downloadable content, while everyone who pre-orders the game at GameStop (while stocks last) will be upgraded to the Special Edition version of the game which includes the following)
- Exclusive Steelbook Premium Packaging
- Extensive Behind The Scenes Video Features
- Soundtrack
- PS3 Dynamic Theme
- PSN Avatar Bundle
