The PlayStation 4 is real.
Sony Computer Entertainment has formally announced the PlayStation 4 home console, with our first look at the logo of the hardware revealed at the company’s PlayStation Meeting 2013 conference in New York City!
At Sony’s February 20th PlayStation Meeting 2013 the company officially took the wraps off of the PlayStation 4, revealing the focus on an interconnected ecosystem of PlayStation products, the heart of which will be this new home console.
Social features and the ability to personalise your gaming experience to you depending on your preferences and activities online and with friends are key goals for Sony, while sharing those experiences is also at the heart of the PlayStation 4.
Many different games (completely new, known and based on previous franchises) were also shown off during the event, with titles from Evolution Studios, Sucker Punch, Media Molecule, Capcom, Blizzard (!), Bungie, Guerilla Games and more at the event.
Even legendary developer Mark Cerny (who has had a hand in almost every first-party PlayStation 3 game you’ve ever enjoyed) was on hand to announce the PlayStation 4’s technical statistics while showcasing a game of his own – Knack!
Sony spent a good deal of time speaking about the benefits of its focus on sharing, personalised experiences and interconnectivity, and even Gaikai’s Dave Perry took to the stage to speak about his role in bringing videogame streaming and sharing to PlayStation 4.
