One of the more unexpected announcements of the recent PlayStation Meeting 2013 event was that of Diablo 3 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, the release of which will mark Blizzard Entertainment’s return to the world of home console game development
While the real announcement was that Diablo 3 would soon be making its way to PlayStation 3, Blizzard additionally revealed that the game would be adapted to take advantage of the just-announced PlayStation 4 as well.
This console version of Diablo 3 will be based on the most up-to-date edition of the PC game, with “all of the latest upgrades, such as the Paragon leveling system, customizable Monster Power, Brawling, and epic Legendary items.”
Diablo 3 on console will also feature a brand new user interface, with a new control scheme and dynamic camera perspective included to make “questing and combat in the world of Sanctuary feel like second nature on PlayStation platforms.” The action RPG will provide the same singleplayer and co-operative multiplayer experiences as that of the PC version.
CEO and co- founder of Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Morhaime, said of the game:
“Diablo 3 looks and plays great on the PlayStation. We put a lot of care and thought into the PlayStation version to make sure it would deliver an authentic Diablogaming experience, and we’re really pleased with the results. We can’t wait for players to try it out at PAX East.”
Would you play Diablo 3 on a console? We’ll be able to see the game running on PlayStation 3 at PAX East this year, from March 22nd through to the 24th.
