Local pricing and release date for PS4 still unknown in South Africa, Ster Kinekor releases an official statementWritten by: / / No Comments
Last night the world looked on as Sony announced the new PlayStation 4 console. The publisher showed us the DualShock 4 controller and went into detail about the PlayStation 4’s features. We also saw a number of new titles being revealed, and were impressed as trailers demonstrating PlayStation 4 games kept us glued to our screens until the very early hours of the morning here in South Africa.
One thing that Sony didn’t announce was a solid release date, saying only that the PlayStation 4 would be available in ‘Holiday 2013.’ We didn’t get any information about a price for the new console either.
Ster Kinekor Entertainment, the local distributor of Sony in South Africa, has just released an official statement regarding local pricing and availability of the PlayStation 4.
A post on the PlayStation South Africa’s Facebook page reads: “At this time we have no official release date or recommended retail price for South Africa. We are however confident that a simultaneous release will shortly be available for all major territories. Ster Kinekor Entertainment expect to have more details of release strategy in the next few weeks.”
Earlier today local retailer BT Games had already set-up a pre-order page for the PlayStation 4, although there is no release date or price listed and the newsletter just says ‘Coming Soon.’
