As ancient texts and secretive scrolls foretold (as well as general internet chatter and common knowledge has led us to believe), Bungie will be fully unveiling the studio’s next game today with the official announcement and reveal of Destiny.
Ahead of the hoopla, however, IGN Spain has gone and released concept art images used during the pre-production of Destiny, showing a myriad of exciting vistas as well as allusions to the kind of gameplay we’ll be getting to grips with in Bungie’s next title (rumoured to be out on October 6th, 2013).
Have a gander below and look forward to the full reveal of Destiny a little later today:
Current rumours doing the rounds indicate that Destiny will launch on October 6th, according to French online retailer MicroMania – here’s the accompanying description:
“Everything changed with the arrival of Voyageur. It was originally a Golden Age that allowed our civilization to establish itself in the solar system. But it could not last. Something we put ashore broke. The survivors built a city in the Voyageur before returning explore our ancient worlds where only mortal enemies awaited them.
“You are a Guardian, protector of last haven of life on Earth, armed with incredible powers. You must defend the city. Defeat our enemies. And look what we have lost. Be strong.”
Joystiq, meanwhile, received images and information of a pre-order promotion to be kicked off at US retailer GameStop on February 18th, which promises character customisation along with customisable equipment such as weaponry and vehicles, while playing in an “always-connected universe.”
First-person shooter elements, as well as co-operative and competitive multiplayer modes are also on the cards for Destiny, combined with social hooks probably along the lines of those seen in EA’s Autolog 2.0 system and the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta.
What do you make of these rumours? We’ll discover the truth soon enough.
