If you live in the UK you shouldn’t be surprised to see a gruesome truck driving the streets. The “fully fortified zombie killing machine” has been created to help promote the upcoming release of Dead Island Riptide.
Deep Silver teamed up with custom vehicle fabricators Xquisite, who took a standard Ford Ranger pick-up truck and transformed it with “fully armoured windows, a rear-mounted mini-gun, lethal spiked wheels, and a menacing front end barricade.”
The publisher believes the truck is a perfect tool to help promote the brand because pickup trucks play a large role within the Dead Island series. You can watch how the truck was built in these two videos, which also just so happen to feature exclusive gameplay footage from Riptide.
Keep your eyes peeled for the Dead Island Riptide pickup truck, which will be appearing at various events over the next few weeks ‒ prizes are up for grabs if you spot the truck and let Deep Silver know on Twitter.
Dead Island Riptide is the next installment in the co-operative first-person shooter series and sees players facing off against hordes of zombies in an open-world tropical island environment. The game will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on the 23rd April in the US with the rest of the world following on the 26th April.
A little while ago Deep Silver announced a gruesome Zombie Bait Edition featuring a bloody bust. An outcry followed and the publisher was forced to apologise for the inclusion of the statue. Can’t help but to wonder if their PR department cleared this truck before it was revealed?
