Madden 25 announced and dated as EA celebrates franchise historyWritten by: / / No Comments
Last year, EA and EA Sports released the studios’ latest entry to the long-running American Football sports series with Madden NFL 13, so you would think that the next edition of the franchise would logically be named Madden NFL 14, right? Wrong.
To celebrate 25 years of franchise history, the next game in the series will aptly be named Madden NFL 25!
General Manager of American Football for EA SPORTS, Cam Weber said of the name announcement:
“There’s no better way to celebrate and mark the culmination of 25 years of innovation than by naming this year’s game Madden NFL 25. This year’s game will push the boundaries with gameplay and feature innovations that will lay a very strong foundation for the next 25 years of this storied franchise.”
Releasing on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on August 27th in the US (and notably not on the Wii U for the moment), Madden NFL 25 seeks to pit the greatest NFL legends of all time against the biggest football stars of today.
Fans of the series will be able to vote for Madden NFL 25’s chosen cover star starting March 11th at the official voting site, and you’ll be voting in either a legend or a hot new star to adorn the year’s box art – here’s how it’ll work:
“The past and the future collide in the newest Madden NFL Cover Vote across ESPN platforms and SportsNation, which will see the old school take on the new school for the historically-significant cover,” writes EA. “A bracket of 32 all-time NFL greats will go head-to-head against one another, as will 32 modern NFL superstars, with the winners of each bracket facing off in the final round.”
Did you know that the Madden NFL series is known as the NFL’s ‘33rd Franchise?’ And did yo know that the franchise has sold roughly 99 million copies around the world since the first game, John Madden Football, generating $3.7 billion in revenue? Massive.
Will you be playing Madden NFL 25 this year?
