With the ushering in of a new generation of consoles, the age of ‘User Generated Content’ began in earnest and was used as an alluring bulletpoint feature for games.
LittleBigPlanet was used as a poster child for this new movement, while The Sims has allowed gamers to flex their creative muscles for over a decade, but user created levels, items and scenarios have a history going back to DOOM and Wolfenstein mods in the early 90s, and even before as tech-savy gamers hacked and tinkered with games in the 80s.
Our Question of the Day asks:
What game has unleashed your creativity the best?
More recently, Minecraft and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition have enabled gamers to craft and create almost anything they can imagine, while developers have taken strides to streamline the process (and even empower us more) with tools included in Hitman: Absolution (to create our own scenarios) and inFamous 2, but there are dozens of games that allow us to show our creativity in this way.
What game, either old or new, has been the most successful at allowing you to craft your own creations in order to share them with the world?
