Yesterday Koch Media acquired the intellectual property rights for two of THQ’s popular franchises. It also acquired the Chicago based development studio Volition in a closed auction as THQ was dissolved and its properties sold off to various bidders.
The Metro and Saints Row franchises were sold to Koch Media, Deep Silver (their internal publishing powerhouse) will be leading all further development and marketing on these two franchises. Koch Media and Deep Silver are said to be planning to roll out future plans for each franchise in the coming months.
Reports indicate that the Volition Studio and Saints Row IP sold for $22.3 million and the Metro franchise for $5.8 million. In both cases Koch Media cast a higher bid than Ubisoft and won the auction.
