Capcom has today revealed further details on the publisher’s upcoming Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen expansion, including the announcement that the extended adventures in this epic open-world action RPG will, in fact, not be a traditional expansion after all.
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will be a standalone game released to physical and digital store shelves on April 23rd in the US and April 26th in Europe, across PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, promising “a huge brand new area, missions, enemies and more, plus all of the content from the original game.”
While Dark Arisen won’t act as an expansion to the original Dragon’s Dogma in the traditional sense, owners of the first game will receive 100 000 Rift Crystals, unlimited Ferrystones and the Gransys Armour Pack (with six new costumes) if they pick up the upcoming title.
Capcom has listened to the fans and included a number of improvements to the original Dragon’s Dogma with Dark Arisen, with things like easier travel and a more intuitive menu system named. These improvements will be applied to the first Dragon’s Dogma should you already own it.
Taking place in the ‘cursed’ Bitterblack Isle off of the Gransys mainland, adventurers will discover a new underground realm in Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, as well as new foes (said to be “terrifying”) as you set off on an all-new quest. If you have the original game, you’ll be able to import your existing character/s (as well as previously saved data) into Dark Arisen, too.
“Players will be able to take their characters to new heights, with brand new high-level skills and augments as well as all new weapons and armour sets,” says Capcom. “For those that missed Dragon’s Dogma the first time around, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen provides the opportunity to start their journey from the very beginning before tackling the all new content.”
