EA and Crytek have just announced that those looking forward to Crysis 3 in February will be able to get a healthy taste of the sci-fi first-person shooter with an upcoming multiplayer beta, soon to become available across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC!
The Crysis 3 multiplayer open beta will launch on January 29th and include no less than two team-based online modes, with two maps to get to grips with and learn in time for the full game’s release on February 19th in the US and February 22nd in Europe, the UK and South Africa.
CEO of Crytek, Cevat Yerli said of Crysis 3 multiplayer:
“With Crysis 3 we are delivering the deepest, most robust Crysis multiplayer experience yet. We have listened closely to our fans and have evolved the multiplayer in Crysis 3 by adding a host of new gameplay features including the unique Hunter mode, deadly new weapons like the Predator bow, deeper loadout and unlock options, enhanced upgrade systems and more social features like the New York Feed.
“Top it all off with the ultimate weapon in the Nanosuit and you have a multiplayer experience that is unlike anything else out there.”
The multiplayer beta will be live for two weeks and end on February 12th. During this time you’ll be able to play both the ‘Crash Site’ and ‘Hunter’ multiplayer modes which take place in the levels ‘Airport’ and ‘Museum’ to showcase the game’s “lush, urban rainforest and tactical sandbox” that’s waiting for you in the full game and the campaign.
In Crash Site, “players must secure and defend specific locations, earning points along the way for kills and their ability to hold those locations.”
Hunter mode, on the other hand, is described as an “asymmetrical, time based mode pits two players vs. ten (two vs. 14 on PC) in matches that begin with two cloaked hunters stalking 10 opposing CELL troopers.
“Armed only with enhanced Nanosuits and the lethal Predator bow, hunters must systematically stalk and kill the CELL operatives, who in turn must work together as a team as they fight to stay alive before the round ends. The twist is that once a CELL trooper is killed, that player will then respawn as a hunter, joining the others in their attempt to eliminate the remaining CELL operatives before the clock strikes zero.”
The Crysis 3 multiplayer beta will also include our first look at the ‘New York Feed,’ an in-game social feature that will let you know about the accomplishments of other gamers (and your friends) in real-time, while simultaneously challenging you to complete dynamically suggested tasks.
A new gameplay feature called ‘Rip & Throw’ will also be available in the beta, allowing you to interact with objects and elements in the world and use them as shields, or weapons, as the case may be, while the opportunity to take control of the ‘Pinger’ (“a fearsome alien tripod war machine”) is also included in Crysis 3 multiplayer.
Will you be playing the Crysis 3 multiplayer open beta next week? You can be sure we’ll be there mixing it up online so we hope to see you there!
