The extended zombie destruction adventures of Dead Island will be delivered to the world in March with Dead Island: Riptide, which features a new story, new locations and new characters who will experience the horror of a relentless horde of shambling dead clawing to eat their brains.
For some of you, however, the horror may begin before you even start the game, depending on if you choose to unwrap the just-announced collector’s edition for Riptide…
Called Dead Island: Riptide – Zombie Bait Edition, the special version of the game features something truly horrific – I’ll let the press release take it away:
“… the center-piece of this collector’s edition will be a resin statue, which is Dead Island’s grotesque take on an iconic Roman marble torso sculpture.
“Measuring 31cm high and 18.5cm wide, each of the Zombie Bait sculptures are hand-painted and depict the grisly remains of one of Palanai island’s zombie infected.”
Sales and Marketing Director at Deep Silver, Paul Nicholls, said of the collector’s edition:
“Dead Island Riptide is one of the most anticipated releases of the year and is set to build on the original’s reputation for OTT action, dark humour and brutal zombie bashing. We wanted to provide a unique collector’s edition that was utterly ‘Dead Island’ and would make a striking conversation piece on any discerning zombie gamer’s mantel.”
This special edition is said to be “strictly limited” to better ensure that it’s a “genuine collector’s item for hardcore horror gamers.” And to ensure that fewer gamers are exposed to its gruesomeness…
Also included in the Zombie Bait Edition are the following:
- A Steelbook case
- Collectable artwork cards
- Exclusive pack of weapon mods “that allows even more, manifold ways to dispose of the ghastly zombie hordes on Palanai island.”
Will you be looking to pick up the Zombie Bait Edition of Riptide?
Dead Island Riptide will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on the 23rd April in the US with the rest of the world following on the 26th April.

Note: Yes, I know a bust is typically a sculpture of a head and shoulders, but the header caught on too fast and I couldn’t let it go to waste. ‘Sorry.’
