Generation VI: Nintendo announces full 3D Pokemon X and Y for 3DS

During a very special Nintendo Direct streaming event hosted by president Satoru Iwata, an all-new entry to the world-dominating Pokemon series was announced for 3DS, with a simultaneous worldwide launch planned for October 2013.

Best of all? The game is in full 3D this time!

“New Pokémon, a new storyline set in a spectacular 3D world, and dynamic battles instantly make Pokémon X and Pokémon Y two of the most highly anticipated video game titles of 2013,” were all promised in the press release.

Press releases are full of boring old words, though, so we’ve rooted out the just-released debut trailer for Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, which you can watch below:

Pokemon X and Y will feature brand new starting Pokemon with the traditional three elemental-based creatures to begin with. The fire type Fennekin, grass type Chespin and water type Froakie will form the starting line-up, while Pikachu and a new legendary Pokemon are also confirmed to make an appearance in the new games.
