343 Industries, together with Xbox 360 and Virgin Gaming, will this holiday launch the biggest Halo tournament ever conceived with a worldwide, free-to-enter event, the ‘Halo 4 Infinity Challenge!’
The Halo 4 Infinity Challenge will begin on December 17th but you can register for the tournament starting today (and from December 12th in certain regions) by visiting the official contest page. But how will the tournament work?
From December 17th, the tournament will track your own score in Halo 4’s War Games multiplayer, and will also take note of the number of Spartan Ops chapters you’ve completed on the global leaderboards, which will give everyone of every skill and taste a chance at winning one of 2800 planned prizes during the contest.
If you happen to end up on top of the War Games portion of the tournament, you’ll win a UNSC-themed, V8-powered 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor truck designed by 343 Industries! If you win in the Spartan Ops category, though, you’ll win an appearance in a future Halo game!
Here are some more details straight from 343, Virgin Gaming and Xbox 360:
“During the qualifier phase (Dec. 17 ‒ Jan. 10), players will need to climb the ranks of the global leaderboards by competing in either the Spartan Ops or War Games leaderboard. After the qualifier phase, players will be tiered into three groups (based on their results on the qualifier phase leaderboards) and will enter the finals phase (Jan. 12 ‒ Jan. 19).
“In addition, players can also participate in Weekly Challenges found on Halo Waypoint for a chance to win great prizes.
“During the finals, the leaderboards will reset and prizes will be awarded to the top performers in each tier. While terrific prizes are available within all three tiers, the grand prizes will be offered exclusively for those that have battled their way to the top tier.”
Will you be joining the fray of the Halo 4 Infinity Challenge? Be sure to register when its available in your region!
