Thatgamecompany’s emotionally affecting PSN title Journey won over critics and players alike following its release in March thanks to its masterful blend of technology, art and intuitive gameplay mechanics.
Composer Austin Wintory’s orchestral soundtrack was one of the game’s highlights and his outstanding work has now been recognised with a Grammy Award nomination in the “Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media” category. This marks the first time a videogame soundtrack has been nominated for a Grammy in the history of the event.
Other composers nominated in this category include John Williams for The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn, Ludovic Bource for The Artist, Hans Zimmer for The Dark Knight Rises, Howard Shore for Hugo, and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
The 55th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 10th and we wish Austin all the best going up against some legendary composers!
